Infrastructure does need to be fixed. Unfortunately, a lot of things stand in the way. Take this example: BNSF wants to spend its own money to replace a 140-year-old Bismarck Rail Bridge over the Missouri River. A special interest group has tied this up for five years, claiming that, despite a predecessor railway having been given the right of way over public land, because BNSF can’t produce the original deed to that right-of-way, the land should revert to the state. The courts should have the ability to punish these folks!

Summary: The 140-year-old Bismarck rail bridge in North Dakota is facing a potential demolition, but the Friends of the Rail Bridge (FORB) are not giving up without a fight. This historic bridge has served as an important transportation link for over a century, connecting communities and facilitating trade. FORB is rallying to save this iconic landmark, recognizing its cultural significance and the potential for it to be repurposed for recreational use. By raising awareness and organizing community events, FORB hopes to garner support and funds to preserve this piece of history. The preservation of the Bismarck rail bridge would not only honor the past but also provide opportunities for future generations to appreciate and enjoy its architectural beauty.
