Amazon‘s freight brokerage platform has been testing for approved carriers to send shipments among five East Coast states since last year. (Sources CNBC)  “This service, intended to utilize our freight network better, has been around in various forms for quite some time,” Amazon said in a statement.
 
Uber‘s freight re-launches its platform – growth seems to be slowing – most likely caused by slower adoption by the trucking community.
 
XPO Logistics results:  (one of the largest logistics providers in North America)
  • 1.7% decline in quarterly revenue to $4.12 billion
  • Income down 35.8% to $43 million
  • Spent $1.2 billion on buying its own stock – quite a surprise in a company that plans to grow through acquisitions
