From the 10K of a large non-union LTL carrier: “We can offer no assurance that the Department of Labor will not adopt new regulations or interpret existing regulations in a manner that would favor the agenda of unions, or that our employees will not unionize in the future, particularly if regulatory changes occur that facilitate unionization.” It is clear being non-union affords significant advantages. What other parts of the supply chain should be concerned about unionization? And what can be done to mitigate those concerns? I am no expert, but successfully fighting a union requires planning – and needs to take place well in advance of the threat. What are you waiting for?
