On the nation's freight rails, Amtrak is a nuisance – its frequently-late trains just get in the way.  Now, the infrastructure bill gives money to start a new route that is all but guaranteed to be money-losing.  And if you want further proof that government shouldn’t run anything:  in the age of the internet and automated ticket machines, the infrastructure bill mandates a human ticket agent for any location that generates at least 40 passengers/day.
