I Missed It

When I gave the reasons for the Mercedes plant in Alabama staying non-union, I missed an important fact:

before the election, the union had cards signed by employees, 70% of whom supported the union. In the privacy of an anonymous voting booth, the reality was many of those didn’t want the union. This makes it all more essential that "card check," which is what unions want to use to force companies to recognize the union, is not the final word – – i.e. Always insist on a secret ballot.

It's worth noting that diesel prices, which used to have a premium of sometimes over $1 per gallon, have now become more closely aligned with gasoline prices.
